How working in startups changed the trajectory of my career

When I was in school, I was eager to try everything, so I jumped into opportunities at startups. I didn’t have all the answers (in fact, half the time, I had no clue what I was doing!), but I showed up every day with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

I took ownership of projects, stepped out of my comfort zone, and gained invaluable hands-on experience. By the end of it, I had a clear understanding of what I didn’t want—staying in academic research—and what I did want: a career in tech. Plus, I had a wealth of experience to showcase on my resume that set me apart when applying for jobs.
